Dr Benedict Valdez, chief of the Emergency and Trauma Department at Southern Philippines Medical Center, invited Global Impact to conduct a human trafficking awareness training last month for medical personnel.

 100 surgeons, doctors and nurses who are in a strategic position to identify potential victims participated in this event and were trained on identification, detection and treatment of abused women and children. Speakers included Dr. Namnama De Dios, a child protection specialist from the Philippines and Ashleigh Chapman, an American human rights attorney and founder of Justice U.
