PHILIPPINES – This story of two teen girls highlights the critical role of education and awareness in preventing human trafficking. These girls had already paid money to someone posing as a recruiter, promising them a better future.

While they lost their money, it was nothing compared to what was awaiting them. They were rescued – BEFORE being trafficked – through awareness and education.

They were likely saved by an educational flyer given at a Global Impact outreach. The flyers contained a phone number to verify a recruiting agency’s legitimacy and registration with the Philippine government.

While prevention is sometimes hard to measure, it’s an area where time and resources are wisely invested. That is why a huge part of our anti-trafficking work is education and awareness – because prevention is better than rescue!

Thank you to our partners who fund our anti-trafficking efforts – many of whom contribute just $5 or $10 a month!
